Photographer Jackie Stubbs predicts 2011 will be a bumper year for weddings and engagements.

The reason for Jackie's optimism can be attributed to the recent announcement of Prince William and Kate Middleton's engagement and their planned 29th April wedding which Jackie thinks is bound to encourage many couples to take the plunge so ensuring their wedding falls in the same year as England's future king.

William and Kate were happy to show off the beautiful sapphire and diamond ring which had previously belonged to Prince William's mother. Happily posing for photographs in front of the world's media. However they would almost definitely have had more informal pictures taken for the royal album. Who can forget the pictures of Prince Charles and Diana back in 1981 to celebrate their engagement.

Although pre wedding pictures are nothing new they have certainly become more popular in recent years partly due to the introduction of
"contemporary", "natural", and "relaxed" pictures that show the couple's personalities and at Jackie's Burton on Trent studio her modern approach to portraiture has delighted many young couples.

"I think that having an engagement portrait taken is probably the best way to choose your wedding photographer." explains Jackie.

"You must feel comfortable with your photographer and trust them to make you look and feel good on your wedding day so an engagement portrait will give you the opportunity to get to know their style."

"I love to shoot engagement pictures on location.

"Pictures in a wood, by the river, on a bridge...anything that looks romantic will make an engagement picture something to treasure forever and will hold it apart from any other portrait.

"A location that has special memories will always be the best. Perhaps near to where the couple met or where they went on their first date. Or even somewhere they share a hobby like a bowling alley perhaps. Something that is unique to their relationship.

"And don't forget what you wear is also very important. It is a good idea not to go for anything too "fashionable" or "trendy". You really need to wear timeless clothes that will not look dated in years to come when you look back at your memories." adds Jackie.
